I Love My Owls!

Day 265 Home
If you look real closely, you'll see the owl looking at me in as I hoot at him in the trees!

Day 266 Home
Steve's grandma decided she didn't need her collection of "partners" anymore. Because I have the printer's box, Linda gave them to me. I love them!

Day 267 Road to the dump - Okanogan
Love this view!

Day 268 Wenatchee, WA
My travel date this afternoon! I had to go to Wenatchee for a dentist appointment and Lyndsi decided to keep me company!

Day 270 Home
This is the earliest I've gone to be all year! And it's a Friday night!!

Day 271 Home
The Vedders family called tonight to see if we wanted to have dinner tonight. They brought some pizza fixings over and we had yummy pizza! We always have such a great time together.

Day 272 Home
Steve and Dylan are off hunting this evening! They've been out scouting around so we'll see if they get anything tonight.

Day 273 Home
I got this pretty little lily from my GLAD trainer - Sara. I hope I can keep it alive!

Day 274 Home
Lyndsi created a very clever hairstyle tonight!

Day 275 Home
I love my painting! Steve bought this for me this summer after I worked on something. He used it as a bribe!

And Friday Nights are Made For Blogging!

Day 254 Home
Funny little mouthpiece! This is what's helping me sleep at night! I love it!

Day 255 Home
Look how big the chicks are getting! They are very skittish but they sure are cute! We're pretty sure 2 are roosters and 1 is a hen...we'll see!

Day 256 Home
Dylan so nicely stopped to pose for a picture on his way out the door to school. As you can see, he loves getting his picture taken! Had to get a shot of his newest sport uniform - football!

Day 257 Home
Our garden's bounty! I love the colors!

Day 258 Home
Just what every mom/wife wants to come home to - good lord! Steve was working on painting the trim of the house and Lyndsi and Dylan decided to join him. Dylan disappeared before I got home but Lyndsi hung out for a bit.

Day 260 Okanogan Middle School
Picking Dylan up from football practice...

Day 261 Home
Look at this cute face! Lucy hangs out with me in the evenings. I enjoy the company!

Day 262 Lake Roosevelt Football Field
Dylan's second football game. Hurt his hip this time but came off smiling!

Day 263 Okanogan High School
I thought this was a funny little shot of my newest professional development. I was working with a friends and we were "Facetimed" into a workshop whose other participants were online. We were all posting updates and refreshing the results , as well as checking our emails, so there were 2 or three electronic devices being used at all times!

Day 264 Eastside Omak Sports Complex
Steve volunteered to be Lyndsi's soccer coach this year. I think Lyndsi only played because Steve was her coach! They're having a good time together.

Dreary Days Call for Blogging

Day 246 Home
Lyndsi decorated this cute cupcake cake for the fair - hope she does well! Because it's not as easy as it looks....

Day 247 Okanogan County Fairgrounds
Poor Fred wasn't quite ready for the noise of the fairgrounds. I think he thought he'd been abandoned! One night it rained and blew so hard his cage was soaked. Hopefully he took cover in his tube! Fred took a blue ribbon home with him!

Day 248 Okanogan County Fairgrounds
Fred and ....someone! This is Fred's pen for the weekend. He shared with Mylan's pig. Neither one really liked being at the fair so they slept a lot!

Day 249 Okanogan County Fairgrounds
Dylan just completed his fitting and showing. He did great! It was harder than he thought but he was so good! Fred responded well, though he tried to find the nearest exit at any and all opportunities. I was so proud of Dylan for trying this new adventure.

Day 250 Okanogan County Fairgrounds
Dylan walked up into the stands to thank Brian Whitley for buying Fred the Fair Pig. Another proud day for me! Not only did Dylan get into that ring with Fred alone, he showed off  Fred's assets and then made the trek up into the crowded stands to personally thank the representative of the company who paid a lot of money for Fred. Way to go, Dylan!

Day 251 Okanogan County Fairgrounds
Last day of fair! We were watching a bit of horse racing before picking up Lyndsi's crafts and going home. We'd already said our good byes to Fred and the other pigs - that was the hardest part of the day!

Day 252 Home
This is how Lyndsi typically reads! She doesn't last long once her head hits that pillow. I also love her glasses! They look so grown up!

Day 253 Viewmont Drive
Over the weekend we had a torrential downpour that caused all sorts of flash floods and road damage, yard damage, house damage. And we missed it all! It didn't rain that hard at the fairgrounds, where we were watching kids show their animals. So coming home to our road practically washed out was quite a shock! The estimates for repairs ran at about the $300,000 range! Wow!

I'm Kinda Getting Tired of Being So Far Behind!

Day 234 Okanogan Middle School
Today was locker/schedule pick up day for the middle school. Dylan didn't want to pose for a picture next to his locker....can't imagine why not!

Day 235 Okanogan Middle School
Dylan is playing middle school football this year. He gave up a season of soccer to try football! He thinks he's going to enjoy the sport but he was very nervous at his first practice.

Day 236 Home
Yep - our couch is on our back porch! If it weren't so tacky, I think I'd leave it! It's such a comfortable place to relax in the mornings and in the evenings. Unfortunately, as soon as the weather changes we'll be hauling the couch to the dump. There are so many rips and tears that no one wants it.

Day 237 Ag Tech
Aww....Fred! Today was bath day for the fair pigs. They didn't particularly enjoy the baths but I think they liked feeling clean! Fred immediately went into his bed and laid down between his brothers, who proceeded to sniff at him for several minutes. It was so cute!

Day 238 Home
Dylan's enjoying his new sport! Tonight he was out with Steve, practicing his catching skills.

Day 239 Free Bird Espresso
My favorite drive through espresso stop! And I couldn't resist the sign!

Day 240 Home
First day of school! I got the kids' pictures and Steve posed for me, too! Isn't he handsome??

Day 241 Home
Mike gave Lucy a new ball. She loves her toys! Usually she buries them but this one must have been special because she brought it in and let us toss it to her!

Day 243 Home
Lyndsi got reading glasses this summer. She's had trouble with headaches for a couple of years now. Her vision is pretty good but the doctor suggested some over the counter readers for the headaches. Lyndsi is faithful about putting them on to read so we'll see if they help during the school day.

Day 244 Red Robin, Wenatchee, WA
Jenna, Erin, and Karen Radke invited Lyndsi and I to go to see the new One Direction movie in Wenatchee. We had a fun day at lunch and then at the show.

Day 245 Home
Here is the beginning of Dylan's fair poster. As part of entering a pig in the fair, he also has to create an educational poster. He chose to research different market hogs and create his poster using the information he found.

I Have a Few Minutes.....

Day 229 Omak
Dylan ran the Warrior Stampede obstacle race in Omak this year. He's been building up the nerve for a couple of years but this is the first time he actually signed up. The race begins in Omak Eastside Park with several obstacles, continues across the river into Omak where more obstacles await, down the Suicide Hill, into the river, and across back into the Stampede Arena to finish off with mud and fire. What a race! This is Dylan at the end. It only took him 33 minutes to complete the 3+ miles! Lyndsi and Jenna ran the junior race and rinsed off before I could get a picture of them.

Day 230 Home
This is the cleanest Lyndsi's room has been in months! We still have a bit to go but we're so close! It only took about4 hours.....

Day 231 Home
Look! It's Si Robertson! Just kidding! Dylan bought this beard at WalMart, donned his camo, and grabbed a jug of "tea" to look like his favorite TV character from Duck Dynasty.

Day 232 Ag Tech, Okanogan
Fred's getting a special extra feeding these days. We want him to be heavy enough to take to fair and right now, he's not! He thinks he's a pretty special piggy to get this dish of food while his pen mates look on!

Day 233 Home
We found a dancing zebra while out shopping. Had to buy it for Steve for his classroom! The kids insisted!

Here Comes the Weekend!

Day 222 The Schrock Home, Omak
What a beautiful day! My good friend, LeeAnn, married her beloved Dale today at their home on top of the Suicide Hill. LeeAnn designed the decorations, the ceremony and the party. It was perfect!

Day 224 - Office Depot, Downtown Seattle
Look who we ran into in Seattle! Lyndsi loves the band, One Direction! Office Depot had this great poster for her to stand by. Too bad it wasn't the real thing!

Day 225 - Home
We got a new couch! You can't see it but it's there! Dylan tried to sleep on it tonight but it was a bit too warm.

Day 226 - Home
You can see Dylan's floor! We worked hard to get it looking this good......I wonder how long it will last?

Day 227 - Smallwood's Smokehouse BBQ, Okanogan, WA
Steve and I finally got to go out for our anniversary....2 weeks later! We went for BBQ at the local fruitstand. Yum!

Hot Summer Nights

It's hot! 97 degrees hot! Guess I'll post some pictures.

Day 212 - Home
This was one of my summer projects. Nothing like leaving it until last minute! I wanted to clean out the hall closet. I bought self-stick laminate tile and tiled my hall closet! The baskets slide so much easier now!

Day 213 - Home
Marilou Baker gave us the great big box of apricots! We ate most of them but some got bad before we could get to them. The chickens loved those!

Day 214 Home
Good gracious, look what I found! We have babies! I really thought these eggs were duds but I was wrong! We now have 3 cute little fluffy chicks. I hope none are roosters!

Day 215 - Jon and Dayla Culp's Home
Happy birthday, Dayla! We stopped by on our anniversary to wish Dayla a happy birthday.

Day 216 - Home
We bought Erik Baker's trampoline! The kids have been wanting a trampoline for so long! We finally got one.

Day 217 - The Andrews' Home
We're walking pigs tonigh! Dylan is learning how to control his pig to be ready for fair. First lesson, tonight!

Day 218 - Home
Steve found a cute boa to wear around the house....

Day 219 - Downtown Omak, WA
The Girl Scouts had the opportunity to walk in the Kids' Parade for Stampede. Lyndsi went, along with a couple of other kids.

Day 220 - Omak Stampede Grounds
We're watching the rodeo tonight!

Day 221 - Omak Stampede Arena
Steve and I, along with Julia and Dennis, and Amy and Jeff, served beer in the Beer Garden this year. This was my view as the racers were coming down the hill!
