Soccer Princess and a Photo Shoot

Soccer has started with a vengence! Monday - Lyndsi, Tuesday - Dylan, Wednesday - Lyndsi, Thursday - Dylan, Saturday - Dylan. I'm pooped! Though I do love sitting in the brisk evening air, cheering on the devoted players. Lyndsi was so excited to finally start soccer! She's been waiting for "Monday" for about 2 weeks!
Today was picture day at school and I couldn't resist snapping a couple of pictures of Max and Dylan in their 7 year old finest! They looked so cute sitting on their desks next to each other! They both have the long "soccer hair" going on. Not sure I'll ever get Dylan to willingly get a haircut again!

When Will I Learn.....

to use spell check??? Sorry about all the typos!

The Simple Joys of the Rope Swing

This is my favorite time of year! The kids start wanting to be outside again after the long, hot, dry days of summer and the breezes ar cool eonough to warrant the wearing of cozy sweatshirts. I heard the sandhill cranes flying overhead and saw the flocks of geese in the soccer fileds today. Soon the leaves will be changing and the first freeze will hit. Yep, these are the reasons I love fall! There's just something soothing about the cooler weather and the bold colors.
To kick off the season Steve and the kids put up a rope swing in the Sycamore out back. The kids can't get enough of the thing! They stick one foot in the loop and go back and forth, over and over again! They've even gotten me hooked on it!
Fall and fair go hand in hand around here. We spent last Saturday roaming around the fairgrounds checking out the animals and the exhibits. Had some fair food, too!

Who could resist this cutie???

Soccer started this week for Dylan and will start next week for Lyndsi. Dylan had a fun first game this morning, playing against his best friend's team. Both teams played well and enjoyed themselves, tying the game. The season is about 6 weeks long - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday - which is long enough! I love watching the games and practices but am already feeling the time crunch!

Preschool Begins

Isn't she so old???

Lyndsi started her second year of preschool at The Children's House Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten. She walked in like an old pro and even helped the younger first year kids. WHOA! So different from last year! She said she played all day and ate snack and that was the best part of the day.

We had to give the kids some bad news tonight. One of their gerbils, Midnight, died sometime Monday. Steve was cleaning the gerbil cage and found our little friend. Dylan took it pretty hard. He sobbed himself to sleep. It was awful!

The fair is this weekend. The kids decided not to enter the pictures they took so maybe we'll do something next year. We'll be spending most of Saturday at the fairgrounds with the Cub Scouts. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to being home for the weekend.

Here are the pictures of Dylan's first day yesterday and one of Dylan's beloved "Midnight" - Sniff, sniff!

Yep - that's my boy!

The First Day of School!

Finally! No ac, phones or computers at the high school but the building passed inspection so everyone went back to school today. Isn't Dylan so cute with his toothless grin?? He is so happy to be in my class this year. It makes me feel very special - sniff, sniff! I have to admit, every time I looked at Dylan sitting in his desk, I smiled inside. OK - enough sappiness. We had a great day - though I don't want to jynx anything. Lyndsi even enjoyed going back to the daycare she was so hating last year. She told me she never felt sad or nervous! I almost fainted! I was ready to quit my job so Lyndsi wouldn't have to go to daycare - and now she likes it! Yippee! Her first day of preschool is tomorrow and she is excited about that, too, so this could be a fabulous year!

Check back tomorrow for first day of preschool pictures!

Actually - I just tried to upload Dylan's pictures and there are some problems so hopefully I'll have his pics tomorrow also!

Missing Stickbug!

Lyndsi's stickbug playing hide and seek

So I just went in and looked at the blog to see if anyone had left a comment and .... boy, did I make a lot of typos! Jeesh! I'm usually a stickler for that kind of thing but I must have been really tired!

Anyway, yesterday morning Lyndsi was feeding her pet stickbut when we discovered it was missing. Talk about moment of panic. Have you ever had a 3 inch creature with long legs crawl up your face as you were snoozing? I haven't either but I sure didn't want to ever experience that event! We searched and searched for our little friend but to no avail. After going to a soccer game and then to the grocery store we were home again and Lyndsi was playing in her room with her friend Karina. Karina appeared behind me in the kitchen and nonchalantly says, "Jill, we found the stickbug." Talk about a sigh of relief! The silly thing was resting nicely in Lyndsi's play kitchen, up in the ice maker. Don't know how they found her. I'm just thrilled she was found!

Here's a question: How many times did I have to type the word "stick" today????
